Schizophrenia is one of the severe mental disorders that can affect the thoughts, feelings and behavior of sufferers. Prescribing drugs in schizophrenic patients is usually not just one type of antipsychotic drug but is given together with other drugs. Giving various kinds of drugs at the same time can increase the occurrence of Drug Related Problems (DRPs), one of which is drug interactions. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential for drug interactions in schizophrenic patients at the Tampan Mental Hospital in Riau Province in 2021. Data were obtained retrospectively from medical records and analyzed using a descriptive observational method. The sample used in this study was 100 medical record data of schizophreia patients in 2021. Research on the potential for drug interactions in schizophrenic patients is based on the type of drug interaction in terms of pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic and unknown and based on severity consisting of major, moderate and minor. The results showed that there was a potential for antipsychotic drug interactions with other drugs in 402 cases. The interactions consisted of 3.73% pharmacokinetic interactions, 89.55% pharmacodynamics interactions and 6.72% unknown interactions. Based on severity, there is a major severity level of 30.35%, moderate of 67.66%, minor of 1.99%. The drug combination that has the potential for interactions is haloperidol and trihexyphenidyl with moderate severity and the type of pharmacodynamic antagonist interaction.
